Note from the President & Committee of walkwithme4oca incorporated.
To all supporters and sponsors of the WWM 2018. It is my intention as the president and husband to notify you of Sue’s wishes for the WWM campaign 2018.
This year’s campaign and future campaigns will also focus and incorporate another cause close to Sue’s heart, Gentle Hands Orphanage.
Raina was rescued by the director of Gentle Hands Mrs Charity Graff in January 2010. Gentle Hands then became the home and refuge of our daughter Raina Grace in the first 17 months of her life until she was adopted by Sue and I in August 2011.
I have personally visited the Gentle Hands Orphanage twice and maintain a solid relationship with Gentle Hands and Mrs Charity Graff. What I like the most about supporting Gentle Hands is that every dollar raised goes directly to the children of Gentle Hands.
This year’s campaign has two links that will be provided for you to donate. You can either choose to donate to Gentle Hands and or Ovarian Cancer Australia or both
Sue’s Story
On Wednesday the 3rd of May 2017 at 1:05pm Sue sadly lost her battle to the silent killer Ovarian Cancer. May she rest in peace and her legacy Walk with me live on.
My name is Sue Contarino and I am 49 years old and live in Wonga Park with a very supportive husband and beautiful 7yr old daughter. I was diagnosed with Stage 3 Ovarian Cancer on the 28th November 2013 and have been through three x 6month cycles of chemotherapy and I am and I am currently waiting to get onto a clinical trial.
For 2017, my Ovarian Cancer has been allowed to grow to “measurable size” whilst waiting for this trial. I’m not sure what the future medical treatment holds for me throughout 2017.I am grateful I am still alive and I created this event in February this year in honour of February’s Ovarian Cancer Awareness month that is worldwide.
Ovarian Cancer Awareness month is February every year. The ‘Walk with Me’ event is held on the last Sunday of every February. It starts 6am from Lilydale Station and concludes approx 3:30pm in Warburton with a distance of 42km. The beauty of this event is that you can start and finish where ever and when ever you like… There are donation boxes along the trail on the day manned by volunteers.
